Personalized Learning

Sessions on this topic can be tailored to your need, anywhere from a 5-minute ignite speech to a multi-year, grass-roots cohort model for a school and/or districtwide personalized learning plan. Topics include the Why, the How, and the What behind personalized learning. For educators familiar with Empowered to Choose, the What breaks down the seven areas where personalization can occur, allocating a session to each identified areas. Those presentations provide definitions, practical examples, and implementation ideas to ensure that educators feel confident as they get started. Additionally, there is a session focused on a guided brainstorming process that individuals and/or whole teams or staffs of educators can utilize as they design opportunities for their learners to personalize their learning. For more information, questions, and examples, please reach out directly.

Artificial Intelligence in Education

Sessions on this topic include keynotes, workshops, and informational presentations that can be tailored to your audience and requested time frame. Whether you’re looking for a way to onboard educators to an introductory understanding of AI or you’re interested in a deep dive with prompt writing and ways to leverage generative AI to personalize learning, Andrew provides dynamic experiences that model how AI tech tools can be utilized to enhance teaching and learning. There is a session option available titled, “Empowered By AI to Choose” that illustrates how AI technology serves to enhance and expedite personalized learning design and implementation.

Designing an Alternate Reality Game for the Classroom

Alternate Reality Games (ARGs) are a type of interactive narrative that uses the real world (the classroom in education) as a platform for utilizing transmedia storytelling techniques to deliver a story that may be altered by the players’ ideas or actions. When a lesson or series of lessons are transformed into an ARG, the classroom becomes an immersive (and almost theatrical) game-based learning experience that blurs the lines between the reality of school and the game. While this is a niche conversation in education, this is a highly-requested session topic as an example of how games can transform learning and take personalized learning to a completely different level.

Instructional Video Development and Implementation

Today, most learners are video connoisseurs, and so as teachers look to create their own instructional video content, their videos will need to keep up with the times. Sessions on this topic offer a number of simple tips, tricks, and shortcuts that can help with turning a 20-minute screencast recording into content that’s more engaging and easier for the modern student to digest. Learn practical implementation strategies that will highlight how to seamlessly integrate instructional videos into any lesson design.

Learning Space Design

Whether you are looking for input on how to design a flexible learning space or are after the why, how, and what to aim for when redesigning a classroom, I would love to help! I have experience as a thought partner, presenter, and co-designer in exploring innovative ways to best leverage elements of any educational space to optimize student learning.

Because Teachers Need More Than a Jeans Day

With educator burnout at an all-time high, it’s imperative that schools look to support their staff with more than the appreciated yet arbitrary jeans days and extra classroom work time. Sessions on this topic offer teachers and school leaders practical, tech-savvy strategies for making health and wellness a daily routine and part of a school’s culture. Together we will engage in a fun and unique conversation on specific practices ranging from mindful listening to habit-building strategies and more. These ideas and their tech-forward supports can bring about a better, balanced version of yourself, personally and professionally.

How to Tell Your District’s Story

In my time supporting school leaders, I’ve learned just how important it is to communicate to stakeholders the great work that’s being done on behalf of students. This session is designed to help leaders learn how to leverage video, podcasting, social media, and a myriad of other avenues to capture your implementation story.

Increasing Learner Engagement Through Games in Education

Nearly every educator has, at one point or another, incorporated game elements into their instructional design as an engagement strategy. From Jeopardy to Trashketball, from teacher created stock market simulations to edu-programs like Quizizz or Kahoot, games have their place in education. Sessions on this topic will bring terminology and a deeper level of intentionality around how educators leverage game mechanics to enhance how they design and implement games in their classroom.
